TikTok has partnered with the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) to roll out a digital commerce initiative aimed at supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria.
The programme, known as Digital Commerce Labs, is designed to equip entrepreneurs with digital skills, tools and resources to expand market access, increase revenue and strengthen business resilience.
The initiative is supported by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund.
According to a joint statement by TikTok and ICC, the programme will combine TikTok’s digital commerce capabilities with ICC’s expertise in international trade and its global network of business chambers to deliver training, mentorship and scalable learning opportunities for local enterprises.
The organisers said implementation would include community engagement sessions, self-paced online courses and virtual classrooms, allowing participants to interact with industry experts and gain practical knowledge.
They added that the initiative is expected to enhance digital literacy, promote peer learning and support the development of sustainable digital commerce ecosystems in Nigeria and other participating countries.
Speaking on the development, ICC Secretary-General John Denton said the partnership would contribute to building a more inclusive global economy by providing small businesses with practical tools to succeed in the digital age.
Also, TikTok’s Acting Head of Government Relations and Public Policy for Sub-Saharan Africa, Tokunbo Ibrahim, said the collaboration would help entrepreneurs move beyond visibility to achieving sustainable growth through effective use of digital platforms.
The statement noted that the Digital Commerce Labs programme will be implemented in 10 countries, including Nigeria, with plans for expansion across Africa and other regions later in the year.
Entrepreneurs across Nigeria have been encouraged to register for the programme to take advantage of the training and opportunities it offers.
